After 6 great seasons at Witton I am finally packing my Shinpads and
Boots for pastures new.
Although a massive part of me would of loved to see out my career at
Witton (Like my good friend Pritch) it's not gonna be possible.
I feel I am leaving the best Witton team I have played in over the
years and I am anticipating some exciting times ahead for you all. The
crop of young players you have there will only improve and with a
little bit more experience they will hopefully take Witton to the conference
North and beyond.
The support from the fans this season has been 2nd to none, and I am
just sorry you weren't rewarded with the promotion you so badly craved.
There have been some great days out over the years from the Gretna
trips to Stamford this year and long may they continue.
The support end enthusiasm on these days has been a pleasure to be involved with.
YOU the supporters are the main reason why WAFC is such a great football club to be involved with.
So moving on...
I would just like to Thank everyone at the club for the tremendous
support they have given me in my time at WAFC and a special mention to
the following people who have all been a credit to WAFC in my time at
Phil Chad - Top man, No 1 Witton fan for me, and a true gentleman.
Cyril - for being Cyril and for them sharp suites he wears on match
Pete Riley - For all the laughs he's given me when he's fell asleep
drunk on the way home from away games.
Dezzie - For all his hard work he puts in, preparing the kit, changing
Graeme Edgeley - For honouring everything we have ever agreed, respect.
The Chairman - For keeping me at the club and for the great job he's
done over the years, oh yeh and for trying to sell me twice.
The Groundstaff - For maintaining the quality of pitch and stadium.
Eddie Bishop - For signing me. (Well done Eddie)
Benny Phillips - For his guidance and his commitment to improving
And finally the WAFC supporters and anyone ive missed who have been
really good to me, you have given me great support whilst playing for
the albion and I have loved every minute of it, and what I can say is
there's no better feeling than scoring on a saturday with 3 points in the bag for the albion.
I leave Witton as a player and now as a fan along with my family who
have enjoyed supporting myself and Witton over the past 6 years.
I wish the club all the best of luck in the coming seasons and will be
down to support the lads as often as I can. (Probably with the family in the car behind)
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
COME ON D ALBION.
Out for 147.
PS .... (Keep getting behind the lads, they DO value your support, and it makes a massive difference)
Cheers Mike. It's been brilliant watching you celebrate every goal like it's the winner in the FA Cup final! Seeing you nearly get a 2nd Yellow against Vics this year for your celebration topped it all!
I don't think there is a single Witton fan who hasn't appreciated how much your goals have helped this football club. You have been a true Witton LEGEND.
Let us know where you end up and we'll come and cheer you on one week when Witton don't have a game.
I can only echo what Robbo has said. I have only been a Wittoner a fraction of the time some of the other lads have, but I know a legend when I see one. I have never seen a player who seems to enjoy having the p1ss taken out of him as much as you ;D
The only problem is Mike, nobody else at Witton fits the white Pele song. We'll have to retire it now.......
All the best Super Mike.
Is having 100 days of celebration after Crowe's departure.
Good luck Mikey,
All the best for your new venture.
You have been a model patient player and it has been a priviledge looking after you medically. You,as a good person and a fantastic player, will be missed by all of us at Witton big time.
Sorry to see you go bud.
Mike, all of us at the Supporter's Team have a proposal for you.
One last outing in the Witton Albion number 9 shirt - turn out for us 1 Sunday afternoon, it's only a half hour game. You can wear the famous Red and White with 9 on the back, and it can be you little 'thank you' to the boys who have been cheering you on.
You also said on the way home from Gateshead you wanted to go out for a beer with us, so after the game we'll all head out for a Sunday curry and a few bevvies.
i joined witton nearly 2 years ago i think, an my first training session i got a swift elbow to the face while jumping for a header it was from this tall blonde hair lad who never even apologised, i hated him an for nearly 2 weeks i tried my hardest to mark him an when i'd get my chance oh i'd make sure he felt it, but that chance never came he was just to sharpe. i used to drive home with the likes of danny byrne an anton an for that half hour i'd slate him, it happened to be Micky M and how how wrong was i.
i use to face sitting him in the changes those days an have never swapped my seat, an when you heard the team sheet get read out you knew if his name was on the number 9 shirt u had a 99% chance of winning today (the other one percent depended on whether pritch was going to do back headers), the inspiration he gives to the team is second to none an i dont mean by team talks but just his presence, when i came i was only 19 an the first thing i knew about witton was how great this striker was and that he'd been the top goal scorer for so many years, well what an understatement the way he played an how easily he found the net was unbelievable, his running, his link up play, and most of all his heart was always in it, an for me i'd rather have 11 players who gave there all then some these days that dnt care (theres gettin to many of them).
well i bet every manager in the unibond and in conference north will be smiling as from today to know that a legend has been released an is on a free an he's still only 28. honestly thought you'd be here for life, as i know you'd have loved too! dont just speak from myself but from the whole team at witton that we will miss you as a player an as just being you. keep it real an dont get all big time on me cause you'll be in next seasons programmes as a legend. and im sure everyone will miss your mum, dad, sarah, ella and little adam.
well all the best were ever u end up an im pretty sure ill speak to u soon.
