A game we could have and should have won even with a weakened team out. Had we setup to start 4-4-2 and put Goulding in midfield and or taken a glut of chances we created! Our starting midfield 3 was not up to the task to be honest and we struggled. Not a great day for us as we virtually gave them 3 goals, missed a penalty and failed to compete in midfield for the first 45 minutes. Not sure about taking of Sambor and bringing on Mitchley who looks unfit for sure and then we had no pace upfront at all to crack a resilient Whitby defence. If Goulding is leaving in the new year then we are still 2 or 3 players short with Foley struggling for full fitness and some players off form! Disappointing sums it up.
Gutted today to be honest, think the Sambor sub confused him as much as us. McKenna scores the pen 2-2 at half time we probably go on to win the game. Not sure how Wardle doesn't learn after giving away the exact same penalty as the other week? Missed Smart immensely as our centre mid was like a limb biscuit.
Where is Goulding off?

At least you'll fall on top of the world
Think about it
First game in a while yesterday, was expecting a win based on current form and being at home, but we looked a bit out of ideas in truth. Whitby were there for the taking but we gifted them a penalty and then couldn’t put one away ourselves. Disappointing. Huffed and puffed but not really enough idea. Big response on Boxing Day would be great, looking forward to it. UTA
A bad 15 minute spell and a bad refereeing decision cost us yesterday. Not a great performance from any of the 3 centre halves but ask the ref yesterday if it was a penalty for Whitby, because from where I was standing the forward went down very easily with no contact. Poor performance poor ref and a very quiet crowd I could hear the 15 or so Whitby fans more than the 300 plus Witton fans.
I thought their pen was pretty soft the striker slowed up on Wardle And waited for the light contact then threw himself to the floor, a bit soft For sure but You have to see the player was going nowhere so no need to be on his back ! I think the quiet crowd reflected the teams performance to a degree.
C.J I think the forward used his experience yes Josh was a bit tight but, I thought he stood his ground instead of putting a challenge in. It's a two way thing with the crowd, the players can lift the crowd and the crowd can lift the players. Still in a decent position in the league just need more consistency.
We played well enough to deserve something from the game Whitby scored thier two chances well.and defended really well with ten men, their keeper had a great game. Kyle Sambour is certainly a great prospect but he wasn't having his best game and didn't run into space a couple of times. The loan player who came on just didn't seem match fit/sharp. So many times the ball didnt quite fall for us in their box on another day we could have had a hatful of goals. We are still punching well above our weight and in touch with the playoffs so COME ON THE ALBIOOOON!
