Relegation on hold (20.05.2009)

Which Albion will be playing in next season remains unknown. Going by playing record, we wil be relegated, but it may well be tothe Unibond Division One South, not North. However it is by no means certain that we will be relegated, as off-field circumstances at other clubs come to light.

Cammell Laird are yet to hear the outcome of their appeal against being placed last in the table because of failure to comply with ground improvements. If their appeal fails, then Whitby Town would be reprieved as the fourth from bottom team. Complicating matters is the withdrawal of Team Bath, which leads to a reprieve for the fourth from bottom team with the best playing record from the three divisions at this level - Whitby Town!

It seems highly likely that Newcastle Blue Star, Division One North play-off winners, will leave the Unibond altogether, which will in all probability lead to a reprieve from relegation for a Premier Division team. We also have the situation of our neighbours; it is not impossible that they will be placed in one of the Unibond Premier feeder leagues.

Throughout the pyramid, there have been so many complications that the F.A. have postponed decisions on promotions and relegations to a later date, so we will have to wait and see.

Frickley Athletic 2 Witton Albion 0 (07.03.2009)

League | Saturday 7th March | 3:00 pm

H.T. 1 - 0.

The strong wind turned this into a game of two halves,  however the turning point was when the officials failed to award Witton a clear penalty (confirmed by the video) when the game was scoreless. Albion went behind against the run of play before half time, and did not look like coming back into it in the second period.

Match previews

Witton Albion v. FC United (17.01.2009)

League | Saturday 24th January | 3:00 pm

Due to the expected larger than normal crowd, there will be a few changes to the normal matchday arrangements.
The main points to be aware of are as follows:

Ground

  • Entrance will be available via 6 turnstiles, 3 at each end.
  • Our Safety Officers have decided there will be no segragation, although this may change at half-time if they believe there is a safety issue. 14 stewards will be on duty, and police have been informed.
  • Both tea Huts will be open serving hot food and drinks.

Social Club

  • For this one-off game, admission can be gained from outside of the ground. Spectators are requested NOT to enter the ground first and then gain access to the social club,as would normally be the case.
  • The door from the Social Club and the Stelfox lounge to and from the ground will be supervised by ELI for passes.
  • The bar will shut at approx 2:45pm (for 15mins) to encourage both sets of fans to head for the turnstiles, to try and avoid overcrowding trying to gain entrance.
  • The bar will be closed during the 2nd half of the match.
  • Fans will be discouraged from loitering in the bar area, so that people can get access to the bar more easier. Please try and form an orderly queue at the bar.

Golden Goal

  • Instead of the normal 90 minute tickets, we will have 180 tickets for sale (i.e. 90 WAFC tickets and 90 FCUM tickets).

Car Parking

  • We have tried to secure parking by renting out space at some of the companies close by, but so far, this has not been successful. Therefore, parking will be a problem, so don't leave it too late!
