Witton complete a very challenging holiday period with the visit of fourth-placed South Shields to Wincham Park on Saturday afternoon in an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture. Buoyed by an excellent result at leaders Nantwich Town on New Year's Day, Albion go into the game with renewed confidence as they look to continue their climb up the table. The Mariners are in good form and are in the midst of a decent run on the road, being unbeaten in their last four games on their travels. At Mariners Park, they have an unblemished record in the league winning all eleven games played in front of their own fans and although they have suffered six defeats away from home, they have improved in recent weeks. The game is only the fourth meeting between the two clubs, South Shields currently having the upper hand winning two of the previous three, the reverse fixture in the North East on the opening day of the season and ending Witton's FA Cup hopes at the first stage in last season's competition. Witton's only success came back in the 1998/99 season when they prevailed in the FA Cup, winning 2-0 at South Shields. Before a ball was kicked, the Mariners were considered to be one of the favourites for the title and their home record suggests that they will be up there challenging for honours at the end of the season. Witton still have a realistic chance of reaching the play offs but their home form needs to improve if that is to be realised. South Shields will be difficult opponents and backed by their vociferous support, it should make for an amazing atmosphere. Kick off at Wincham Park is 3pm.

I've just been reading South Shields various social media posts & it sounds like they are bringing a few fans. I hope there is no segregation as they are a good set of fans who will create a good atmosphere alongside the Witton fans.
According to information received from the club via the stewards, there are no plans to segregate. Their last few away games tend to suggest that they don't travel in as big a number as they did previously. Having said that, there should still be a reasonable attendance.
