WHEELS created the topic: Altrincham vs Witton Albion.
Witton begin the new year with the short trip to league leaders and title favourites Altrincham, in an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture. The Robins have assembled a very strong squad since being relegated from the Vanarama League North at the end of last season., and are currently on an unbeaten run of sixteen league games going into the second half of the campaign. Two of their squad need little if any introduction to Witton fans in former Wincham Park favourites Ben Harrison & Josh Hancock, who have enjoyed excellent seasons since following former Nantwich Town boss Phil Parkinson to Moss Lane. Their campaign didn't get off to the best of starts though as they were beaten decisively by Stafford Rangers at home one the opening day. Since then, they have dropped only two points in front of their own fans so the task facing Witton is probably the hardest they've undertaken since their promotion from Evo-Stik South but, it's a challenge which they can look forward to as they look to keep their promising season going. Albion have been underdogs before and have shown in the past that they are more than capable of upsetting the odds so, there's no reason to think that they can't compete with their hosts and who knows maybe cause a shock again. To be in the top half at the turn of the year, has been an excellent achievement for Witton so far and who's to say that they can't finish higher than that. The character and determination that they have will certainly not be lacking. Kick off at the J. Davidson Stadium is 3pm.
