Apologies for shamelessly using the forum to get some publicity for my new blog but I thought some people here might have their memories jogged by the first post. Not good memories, obviously, we are Witton fans after all, but memories nevertheless. Much Albion solidarity to you all from over here in the desert.

I think Frank Fidler left Witton long before 1956.
we didn't have any option of joining the Alliance league in 1979 as we were only in the Cheshire League while Vics were in the Northern Premier League.
We did move up to the NPL in 1979.as a result of the APL's formation.
We did apply the following season but failed on the ground grading.
We beat Northwich in the 1978 final 1-0 in a replay after a 1-1 draw.
I don't know what the gate was in 1980 but I'm sure it was nowhere near 3-4000. maybe 1500?

Frank left Witton in 1950, playing his last game for the club on 6th May 1950 before moving to Wrexham for one year. He then joined Leeds United.
